The Company
Established in 2018 in response to Glasgow’s rates of child poverty, Launch Foods Foundation is a Scottish charity dedicated to tackling child food poverty across the city. The charity provides primary school children with nutritious meals at the end of the school day, helping to ensure that no child goes to bed hungry.
Launch Foods gives children a choice of two hot, nutritious meals, alongside fresh fruit, a bottle of water and a sweet treat. With its network of shops and cafés continuing to develop, reliable technology and connectivity are essential to supporting the charity's teams and helping its locations operate effectively.
“The KubeNet team are a delight to work with! Take their Corporate Social Responsibility very serious and are forever volunteering, donating their time or raising funds for our charity! Just great professional people who love to give back to the community. Would recommend every time!!” | Gillian Connelly, Launch Foods
The Challenge
As Launch Foods continued to develop its network of shops and cafés, it needed reliable connectivity and infrastructure across its locations to support its day to day operations. New and existing sites needed the right technology in place, while connectivity requirements could vary depending on the location and availability of permanent services.
As a charity, Launch Foods also needed to make careful use of its available resources. Finding ways to reduce technology costs and access the best possible commercial terms was therefore an important consideration, alongside ensuring the charity had access to dependable technical support when it needed it.
How KubeNet Helped
KubeNet has supported Launch Foods with connectivity and infrastructure across its shops and cafés, providing practical technology solutions tailored to the requirements of each location.
At the Cresswell Street location, KubeNet recently completed the installation of the required connectivity and infrastructure. While the permanent service was being arranged, KubeNet also provided temporary 5G connectivity, ensuring the site was not left without a working connection and could continue progressing while waiting for the permanent service to be installed.
Understanding the financial pressures faced by charitable organisations, KubeNet has also provided its services to Launch Foods free of cost. In addition, KubeNet helped the charity access Microsoft's charitable-rated commercial terms, which it had not previously been receiving. This has provided Launch Foods with an opportunity to make its Microsoft services more cost effective while ensuring it is accessing the appropriate pricing available to charitable organisations.
“A huge thank you to KubeNet for getting us connected with WiFi and tech in our new office 💙. As always, the Kubenet team have looked after us brilliantly - great people, great support, and always there when we need them. They don’t just support us with tech either. So many of the team have volunteered with Launch Foods, and lots have already committed to giving their time again this year, which means so much to us. We’re really grateful to have KubeNet alongside us - thank you for continuing to support Launch and the kids and families we work with across Glasgow.” | From the team at Launch Foods
The Results
Connectivity and infrastructure supported across Launch Foods’ locations, providing the charity with reliable technology services across its shops and cafés and helping ensure each site has the infrastructure needed to support its day to day activities.
Cresswell Street connectivity and infrastructure installation completed, giving the new location the technology it needed to operate effectively. KubeNet worked to ensure the installation was completed promptly, supporting the charity as it continued to develop its network of locations.
Temporary 5G connectivity provided while permanent services were installed, ensuring Launch Foods was not left without connectivity during the transition period. This helped prevent unnecessary delays and allowed the site to continue progressing while waiting for its permanent connection.
Access to more cost effective Microsoft services through charitable-rated commercials, with KubeNet helping Launch Foods move onto Microsoft’s charitable pricing. Combined with the planned management of its Microsoft environment and KubeNet’s wider support, this provides the charity with a more sustainable and cost effective approach to its technology.
Conclusion
KubeNet’s relationship with Launch Foods Foundation demonstrates how reliable technology support can make a meaningful difference to an organisation operating within the charitable sector. By providing connectivity and infrastructure services across its locations, KubeNet has helped ensure Launch Foods has access to the technology it needs to continue its work without unnecessary disruption.
The support provided at Cresswell Street, including temporary 5G connectivity while permanent services were installed, meant the charity could keep moving forward without having to wait for its final connection to be delivered. Alongside this, KubeNet has provided its services free of cost, helping Launch Foods access professional technology expertise without placing additional pressure on its resources.
Looking ahead, the planned management of Launch Foods’ Microsoft environment will provide another layer of ongoing support, giving the charity greater oversight and consistency across its Microsoft services. Helping the organisation access Microsoft’s charitable-rated commercials also ensures it can benefit from the pricing available to eligible charities.
Ultimately, KubeNet is helping Launch Foods Foundation build a reliable and cost effective technology environment while allowing the charity to keep its focus where it matters most: tackling child food poverty and ensuring children across Glasgow have access to nutritious food.
