Company Profile

EnQuest is an independent energy company focusing on mature late-life assets, responsibly optimising production to provide energy security.  Where they can, EnQuest repurpose their infrastructure to deliver renewable energy and decarbonisation projects before executing world-class decommissioning.

The Objective

KubeNet initially built a resilient layer2 network across multiple sites in the UK including a diverse route at the Aberdeen HQ and essential services at Sullem Voe. As part of the original project we supplied a resilient SIP infrastructure to support their Cisco Call Manager.

During Covid, EnQuest retired their legacy CCM and deployed KubeNet’s Microsoft Teams calling platform utilising our SBC’s both in the cloud and with physical SBC’s in Sullem Voe & Dubia, all fully supported by our voice team.

The Challenge

EnQuest’s initial provider had entered into administration putting a number of critical services at risk, timescales and a resolution was essential to ensure that services remained live.

Our Approach

This was a major bootstrap approach and collaborating closely with the team at EnQuest, the first phase was to secure their internet infrastructure. This was achieved by collaborating with the carriers to ensure services remained live. We then novated services, utilising the current carriers ethernet onto KubeNet’s infrastructure.

In parallel we adopted the existing ISDN30 and WLR estate to ensure that all parts of the business, including offshore platforms could be contacted.

We retired their ISDN estate moving to SIP infrastructure and finally novating to Microsoft Teams calling which was a more cost effective and stable platform to communicate globally.

Results

  • Successfully transformed EnQuest’s WAN environment to a secure, and scalable network.

  • Built a scalable and secure SIP infrastructure.

  • Reacted quickly to build a resilient environment on Sullem Voe after EnQuest acquired the assets, negotiating with the incumbent USA provider to a successful novation.

  • Successfully built and transitioned at the outset of covid from a legacy Voice product - Cisco Call Manager, to KubeNet’s Microsoft Teams calling platform, supporting 300 users.

Conclusion

EnQuest now operate within a secure, stable, and modern ethernet and voice environment which is easily scalable.

MS Teams enables remote & HQ based workers to work flexibly and collaborate effectively, both internally and with clients globally.

Our dedicated voice team built and delivered the MS Teams calling platform under difficult circumstances (Covid Lockdown) and against tight timeframes, resulting in a modern digital workplace built on strong foundations for scalability.
