The Company

Aviation Fuel Services (AFS) is responsible for the fuelling of aircraft at Heathrow Airport, supporting the safe and efficient operation of one of the world's busiest international airports. Operating as a joint venture between bp, Q8, TotalEnergies and Valero, AFS provides essential fuelling services to more than 70 airlines, including Virgin Atlantic, American Airlines, Emirates, Delta and KLM.

AFS plays a critical role in Heathrow's aviation infrastructure. Its dispensers regulate fuel pressure and provide a final filtering stage before fuel enters the aircraft, helping to ensure safety, quality and reliability across Heathrow's hydrant system.

Based at Heathrow Airport, AFS employs more than 70 staff and relies on dependable technology and IT support to help its teams carry out these essential operations effectively.

The Objective

Aviation Fuel Services needed a dependable, trusted IT partner capable of managing its entire IT estate - from end user support through to infrastructure - so its team could focus on its core operations without technology getting in the way.

With its operations supporting the fuelling of aircraft at Heathrow Airport, AFS needed confidence that its IT environment was reliable, well managed and supported by a responsive partner. The aim was to have a single point of contact for all IT requirements, providing consistent support both remotely and onsite.

The Challenge

As the company responsible for fuelling aircraft for over 70 airlines at one of the world’s busiest airports, AFS needed assurance that its day-to-day IT - from user support to underlying infrastructure - was in safe hands, with a responsive partner on hand both remotely and onsite.

With its technology supporting a critical operational environment, any IT issues needed to be addressed quickly to minimise disruption and keep teams working effectively.

AFS therefore needed a reliable IT partner that could provide consistent support, maintain its infrastructure and respond quickly when technical issues arose. It was also important that the service could provide a combination of remote expertise and regular onsite support, giving AFS direct access to engineers who understood its environment and could provide practical assistance when needed.
