The Company

Established in 1962, JWF is a Glasgow-based measurement engineering specialist providing industrial process instrumentation, commissioning and calibration, alongside bespoke data software solutions.

Supporting customers across the Energy, Food and Beverage, and Utilities sectors, JWF helps organisations improve efficiency, reduce costs, meet evolving regulations, identify waste and enhance overall performance through innovative measurement and data solutions.

The JWF Group also includes Oldham-based Stream Measurement, which was acquired in 2019, further strengthening the Group’s capabilities and reach within the measurement and data solutions sector.

The Objective

In 2019, JWF required an infrastructure upgrade across its managed internet and Wi-Fi services, alongside an upgrade to its on-premises Mitel PABX. The project also included the transition to Mitel MiCollab, supported by SIP trunks and ongoing maintenance.

This upgrade was designed to modernise JWF’s communications infrastructure, improve connectivity and provide a more reliable platform for its teams.

By bringing these services together, KubeNet was able to provide JWF with a more robust and scalable communications environment, while ensuring the technology could continue to support the business as its requirements evolved.

The Journey

Following the initial project, which included increased internet bandwidth, the configuration and management of Meraki access points, and the upgraded phone system, JWF acquired Stream Measurement in 2019. The acquisition represented an important step in the Group’s growth and brought new requirements across its technology and connectivity environment.

KubeNet continued to support JWF through this period, providing continuity across its existing infrastructure while helping accommodate the additional needs created by the acquisition.

2019

We were tasked with the integration of the tech stack across both businesses which

included Stream offices in Oldham & Devon. With multiple providers which would potentially increase the technical debt for the combined businesses, we successfully completed the discovery and novation in 2020.

2021

JWF required a cost effective M2M platform as part of the launch of their oxygen measurement dashboard for NHS hospitals. After the success of this, Utilising the KubeNet platform, we now provide JWF with IoT & NB-IoT SIMs, particularly required within the Water and Gas industries.

2022

The decision was made to move from an on-prem telephony system to a cloud-based platform. After trials, we successfully & seamlessly novated all users to our Microsoft Teams

calling platform, including procurement and support on all MS licences.
